Week 7 Day 2 – Full-Stack Hype
Yesterday was the first day we got to take everything we learned since the start of the program, and put it all together into a full stack todo app. Exciting stuff! We utilized the concept of middleware to connect the front-end React-Redux cycle with the Ruby on Rails back-end so that we can access information from the database, as well as have newly inputed data persist into the database.
The most exciting part of the day yesterday was finally talking about our full-stack projects! I had wanted to propose my own project, but after the lecture, it was definitely recommended that we do clones of pre-existing web apps instead. The argument was that the clones end up looking a lot more polished since there’s less decision fatigue, especially when it comes to design decisions. By making a clone, you’re able to focus more on getting a professional app up and running. A lot of the custom projects that were displayed yesterday were definitely less polished as compared to the clones. I’ve been thinking about my decisions, and I think I have two of the three choices decided. I’ll let you guys know what my top three are after I figure it out, and I’ll definitely update you when I get assigned one of my choices!
Until then, I’ll talk to you guys next time, class is about to start!
