Week 12 Day 4 – We Graduated!
It’s official! We have graduated from App Academy. It definitely feels surreal… and yet, it also feels like we haven’t graduated since we still have to show up to class for another week, and then do regular check-ins during our job search. I’m definitely not complaining, this is after all, what I signed up for.
After this next week is when the battle really begins. I feel like I’ll definitely be struggling through the job search, just because there’s a massive numbers’ game that’s involved, but also because I need to balance my time so that I can continue to refine my projects, start new ones, study algorithms and meet my quota for sending in applications.
I’ve also been networking as well, reaching out to people at companies I really feel like I’d like to work at, and inviting people out for coffee to learn more about their role with their company, and most important of all, what do they like and dislike about their company.
As for our graduation party, we celebrated by voting for some of the most amazing full-stack projects from within our cohort, after which we had a happy hour where there was food and a couple of us played pictionary.
The highlight of the night was definitely going out to celebrate at Fogo de Chao, an All-You-Can-Eat Brazilian steakhouse. And O. M. G. the food there was absolutely delicious. If you’ve never been there, you absolutely need to try it once. It’s by far some of the best steaks I’ve ever had, and I’ve had my fair share of steaks having both eaten and served in some Michelin star restaurants.
Anyways, back to work! I need to get as much done this weekend as possible, so I’m going to get a head start. Take care!
