Week 3 Day 2 – Ayyy, Intro to Rails!
Yesterday was all about finishing up some SQL content by learning about SQLite3. It was very much like last Friday where I came in and half expected not to understand anything while going through the project, or at least have a lot more difficulty understanding the concepts than I actually did. This means that I really enjoyed learning about how SQL works and how to query my database. It almost works like magic, since I don’t completely understand how each logic works (I eventually will), but I was able to set up the queries with little difficulty, which was a really awesome feeling.
Last night however, was where the real excitement really was. We FINALLY started learning rails. We started off by learning about the general logistics of where folders are and what each folder contained. There was also an introduction into migrations and creating the databases and updating the databases through rails, which is WAY easier than with SQL itself. There’s a ton going on under the hood. I’m still struggling a bit with the concepts of associations, but I’m sure I’ll get more of it with practice!
Sorry today’s post is so short, but class is about to start! Talk to you guys tomorrow!
