Week 11 Day 4 – Frustrations and Deliberations
So I believe I’ve parsed the code enough to try and get started with preliminary attempts with my own models. Only issue is time. Last night, was probably one of my darkest hours with this project haha, and I had entertained the idea of switching to a different project just for the JavaScript project so that I could meet my self-imposed deadline. The reason it’s self imposed is because of what’s to come next week. Next week, we dive into the algorithms and data structures portion of our lecture, which spans about two weeks. The next two weeks will also include a lot of homework assignments and projects, so I’m not 100% how much time I’ll have to dedicate to the JavaScript project, which is why I REALLY want to just pull some late nights to complete the project.
So my strategy for actually moving the window around isn’t actually to move the window around, but to move a large content div that contains all my scenes and layers. Depending on the position of the content div, that’s when I would trigger animations. I’m going to really hash out the details by the end of tonight, if I can’t, I’ll do a “substitute” JavaScript project to have something submit, but work on developing this project over the course of the next couple weeks as a side project. It’s a project I’m incredibly passionate about finishing.
That said, I feel really bummed that I’m even having to consider an alternative, but the impending stress of having to manage everything on top of next weeks projects/homework assignments for algorithms and data structures is mounting. I don’t want it to seem like I’m giving up on this project either, but more so, it’s the integrity of my interactive resume that I want to keep. I don’t want to produce a half-ass job on it just to meet deadlines.
That’s pretty much it for yesterday guys, back to cranking out my JavaScript project!
