Week 11 Day 5 – Progress!
Just a little preview on my progress in the thumbnail! Albeit, that doesn’t really show you much progress, but I reckon it’s still the prettiest part of my interactive resume so far.
Aesthetically, it’s not too pleasing yet, but I really want to nail down the functionality of my project first before I think about investing my time into making it even more appealing. An example of what I really need to improve is probably the texture of the castle walls. Right now, my photoshop renders of the entities are really cartoonish, whereas the walls and floor are animated, but they look more realistic than intended, only because I’m trying to find ways to save on time so I’ve been pulling the castle walls and the floors from google images.
Another thing I would like to work on is adding more details. I think there should be a bit more depth, so some shadows for separation between entities will be great. I think over time, adding details, whether it be shadows, or torch flickers, cracks in the castle walls, etc., will really improve the overall feel of the resume.
So to close it off for tonight, over the course of the weekend, I’ve solidified my scrolling path via code (only works for down arrow key for now), and hashed out sketches for what my entities will look like. I’ve also completed a couple scenes, as well as completed my first Harry Potter sprite. I need to finish the other sprites so that I can simulate the moving animation.
That’s it for tonight, talk to you guys Tuesday!
